Is your website ready for Google?

Twelve yes-or-no questions about your business website. At the end you will see what is already in place and what to improve first. Everything is calculated in your browser: we ask for no data and nothing is sent.

  1. Is your website easy to read and use on a phone, with one hand?

Most visits come from phones. Check that text is readable without zooming and that buttons can be tapped with a thumb. Read more →

  2. Does it load fast on a phone, on mobile data and not only on wifi?

Measure the speed with Google PageSpeed Insights (pagespeed.web.dev) and start with images: they are usually the heaviest part. Read more →

  3. Does every page have its own title and its own description?

The title and description are what Google shows in its results. If every page says the same thing, they compete with each other.

  4. Is there a page for each main service or product?

One page per service lets you appear in specific searches (“bathroom renovation in Girona”) and not only for your company name. Read more →

  5. Is your website registered in Google Search Console, with its sitemap?

Search Console is free: it tells you which pages Google has, which searches find you and what errors there are.

  6. Do your city or service area and your contact details appear on every page?

Google and your customers need to know where you work. Put your city, phone and email in the footer of every page.

  7. Do you have a Google Business Profile with the same details as your website?

A Google Business Profile is free and it is what appears in Maps. Use the same name, address and phone as on your website.

  8. Do you show real work, with your own photos and what was achieved?

Examples with your own photos are more convincing than stock images and give Google unique text. Read more →

  9. Can people contact you or book in one step from a phone?

A WhatsApp, call or booking button visible on every page turns more visits into customers.

  10. Is it in your customers’ languages, with its own address for each language?

In Catalonia, Spanish and Catalan; with tourism, English too. Each language at its own address so that Google shows it to people searching in it. Read more →

  11. Do you have a legal notice and a privacy policy, plus a cookie policy if you use cookies?

They are mandatory for a business website in Spain and they build trust with people about to contact you. Read more →

  12. When you share a link to your website, do a clear image and title appear?

This is the preview for social networks and messaging (Open Graph tags). Without it, a link in WhatsApp shows up as grey text.
